Viola Rühse is an art historian who also works as Head of the Centre for Image Science and Course Director at the University of Continuing Education Krems in Austria. She studied the history of art and German language and literature at the universities of Hamburg and Vienna, where she developed a profound passion for visual storytelling and cultural narratives. Following her studies, she further honed her expertise by engaging with significant art collections and collaborating with esteemed professionals in the field. She received her PhD for a dissertation on Siegfried Kracauer’s film writings, which delved deeply into the intricate relationship between cinema and society. In addition to film theory, her current main research themes encompass a broad spectrum of topics, including photography, modern and contemporary art, and critical theory. Viola's approach to art history is analytical yet innovative, combining scholarly rigour with creative exploration. She is also a photographer and curator, bringing her unique perspective to the art world, offering fresh ideas and bold concepts. Drawing on her extensive expertise, she bridges the gap between theory and practice, promoting emerging artists within the contemporary art scene and ensuring their diverse voices are heard in mainstream discourse.
