

Vincent Barré
Vincent Barré is a renowned architect, filmmaker and sculptor who has been a prominent figure in the French cultural scene for over 50 years. His multifaceted talents and innovative approach to art have earned him a reputation among his contemporaries as a notable figure spanning the fields of architecture, cinema, and sculpture. Born in 1948, in Vierzon, France, he now shares his time between Paris, Normandy and the Loiret region. From 1995 to 2011, he was head of the workshop at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he mentored many emerging artists and helped shape the next generation of creative minds in these fields. Under his guidance, many students have gone on to make significant contributions to the arts, exploring various mediums and pushing the boundaries of contemporary art.
He studied in Philadelphia (US) under the American architect Louis Kahn, and subsequently worked with the architecture firm Barton Myers in Edmonton and Toronto during the 1970s. This extensive experience abroad enriched his artistic vision and narrative, deepening his connection to the themes of identity and space. Upon returning to Paris, he devoted himself to sculpting, becoming renowned for his cast iron and bronze constructions that relate the human form to architecture and landscape. His large-scale sculptures can be found in public and private spaces in France, Germany and China. Each piece invites viewers to contemplate the intersection of humanity and artistic expression, often provoking thought and discussion about the role of art in our everyday lives. His work has been exhibited at several major European museums, including the Matisse Museum in Le Cateau-Cambrésis, the Musée d'Art Moderne André Malraux in Le Havre, the Musée des Beaux-Arts et d'Archéologie in Besançon, the Centre d'Art Contemporain du Luxembourg Belge in Virton and the Rijksmuseum Twenthe in Enschede, the Netherlands. He has also taught and exhibited in Tianjin and Jinan in China, Delhi in India, Bremen in Germany, and New York at the New York Studio School, sharing his knowledge and passion for the arts with students and art enthusiasts alike.
