Regina Anzenberger is an award-winning Austrian visual artist, author, and curator renowned for her innovative approaches. Alongside her artistic credentials in the visual arts, she is the visionary founder and dedicated director of the Anzenberger Agency and Gallery, which situated in the historic and cultural city of Vienna, Austria.

Committed to her art, Regina continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression, having devoted over a decade of her creative energy to developing her painting and photography skills since beginning her artistic journey at the tender age of 13. Over the twelve formative years, she has explored and immersed herself in the intricate techniques of oil painting and the unusual medium of red sand sourced from the breathtaking Australian desert.

Her artistic journey is deeply rooted in her long-standing fascination and profound appreciation of nature. In her work, she skilfully transcends the traditional boundaries of classical photography by seamlessly incorporating painterly and drawing elements into her photographs. The result is a captivating array of works that open up a new, poetic perception of the lush world of nature. At the very core of her artistic practice lies a deeply personal reflection on lived experiences and significant global events. The landscapes she photographs are not merely visual impressions; they remarkably carry intricate stories and a spectrum of emotions. Each image tells a compelling story that transcends the visible, beautifully intertwining personal experiences with the universal themes of nature. Regina views nature as a dynamic, ever-changing medium and consistently strives to capture its rich complexity through her art. By thoughtfully incorporating found natural objects, she aims to establish a direct and intimate connection to the place of origin, extending her photographic impressions into the tangible physical space around us. Her work invites viewers to question their familiar perspectives, encouraging them to experience the world with open, curious eyes and hearts.

For Regina, the book is both a medium and an object — an expanded space where diverse ideas, intricate processes, and imaginative designs converge harmoniously. It often forms the very core of her serial and thematic work, marking the significant culmination of a project. As a meticulously designed artefact, the book is inextricably linked to the exhibition space, existing not merely as a static document but as an integral, expressive component of the multifaceted artwork she creates. It embodies her vision and invites further contemplation. Regina was the dynamic director of the Vienna Photo Book Festival from 2013 to 2017, a role that allowed her to curate remarkable photographic narratives. She was also proud to serve as curator of the Foto Wien BOOK DAYS in both 2023 and 2025, which showcased the evolving landscape of book arts. In addition, she is a corresponding member of the German Photographic Association, contributing her expertise to this influential platform. Her personal artistic projects include a variety of thought-provoking exhibitions and publications such as Philodendron (2006), Roots & Bonds (2015), Imperfections (Collector's Portfolio, 2016), Goosewalk (2019), Shifting Roots (2020), Gstettn (2021), Under the Apple Tree (2022), Roots & Bonds (second edition, 2022), Roots & Waltz (2023), Imperfections (2024), and The Australian Journey (2025), each work reflecting her deep-seated commitment to exploring themes of growth, connection, and the natural world in all its glory.
