Kristof Timmerman

Kristof Timmerman is a digital artist, researcher, designer and director of digital performances and installations, with a formidable presence in the art community. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with various theatre companies and established Studio POC, a digital arts collective, in 2006. Through this collective, he has created dynamic and engaging theatre performances, as well as innovative multimedia works. He is Chair of the Research Council at the Royal Academy and Royal Conservatory in Antwerp. Alongside his role at the Academy, he chairs and coordinates MAXlab, a leading research group at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium, focusing on the intersection of art and digital technology. He is involved in several research projects on virtual and augmented reality, mostly in a multidisciplinary context, as a promoter and researcher. This position enables him to contribute to pioneering studies and initiatives that explore novel methodologies within the creative arts.

His commitment to this interdisciplinary field has established him as a key figure in innovative projects primarily focused on virtual and augmented reality. He plays an active role in the Immersive Lab at AP University College in the 'Storytelling in Virtual Reality: An Immersive Encounter', fostering creativity and collaboration among participants from a variety of backgrounds.

As an artistic researcher and lecturer, Kristof is a sought-after coach for VR productions and digital storytelling. He is invaluable in guiding creators through the intricacies of immersive storytelling and the ever-evolving landscape of modern digital tools, ensuring their narratives resonate on a deeper level.
